EXCHANGE OF NOTES BETWEEN CANADA AND EGYPT CONSTITUTING AN AGREEMENT FOR THE EXCHANGE OF MOST-FAVOURED TREATMENT TO REGULATE AND FACILITATE TRADE BETWEEN THE TWO COUNTRIES

Sir,
I have the honour to inform Your Excellency that, with a view to regulating and facilitating trade between Egypt and Canada, the Royal Egyptian Government propose to Her Majesty's Government in Canada an Agreement, in the following terms:
1. Goods, the produce or manufacture of Canada imported into Egypt (whether for consumption, re-export or transit) will be accorded treatment not less favourable than that accorded to the goods of the most favoured foreign country excluding the special privileges accorded to any countries adjoining Egypt and to members of the Arab League.
2. Goods, the produce or manufacture of Egypt imported into Canada (whether for consumption, re-export or transit) will be accorded treatment not less favourable than that accorded to the goods of the most favoured foreign country excluding the special privileges accorded to adjoining territories and to members of the British Commonwealth of Nations and their dependent territories and to the Republic of Ireland.
3. The present Note and a Note from your Excellency confirming the acceptance by Her Majesty's Government in Canada of an agreement to this effect shall be regarded as constituting an agreement in this matter between the two Governments which shall come into force immediately on receipt of Your Excellency's Note and shall remain in force until superseded by another agreement or until the expiration of six calendar months from the date on which notice of termination shall have been given by either government to the other.
I avail myself of this opportunity to renew to Your Excellency the expressions of my highest consideration.

Sir,
I have the honour to acknowledge your Note No. 552 of November 26th in which you propose to Her Majesty's Government in Canada an agreement for the exchange of most-favoured-nation treatment to regulate and facilitate trade between Egypt and Canada.
I have pleasure in informing you that my Government accepts the arrangement set out in your Note and agrees that your Note and this reply shall constitute an Agreement between the Government of Canada and the Royal Egyptian Government which shall enter into force with effect from December 3, 1952.
