EXCHANGE OF NOTES BETWEEN CANADA AND IRELAND MODIFYING THE AIR AGREEMENT OF AUGUST 8, 1947 BETWEEN THE TWO COUNTRIES

Excellency,
I have the honour to refer to the Agreement between the Governments of Ireland and Canada for Air Services between the two countries which was signed at Dublin on the 8th August, 1947, and to the exchange of Notes of the 9th July, 1951, modifying the Annex to the Agreement.
2. Paragraph 3 of the Annex to the Agreement as modified provides as follows:
"It is agreed that all eastbound aircraft on the routes covered in this Annex shall stop at Shannon Airport and all westbound aircraft on the same routes shall stop at Shannon Airport."
3. The Government of Ireland have ceased, as from the 2nd May, 1957, to require aircraft flying over the territory of Ireland to land at Shannon Airport.
4. I have, accordingly, the honour to propose that paragraph 3 of the Annex to the modified should be deleted, and to suggest. that, if this proposal is acceptable to Your Excellency's Government, this Note and Your Excellency's reply thereto constitute confirmation of an agreed modification of the Annex within the meaning of Article V of the Agreement.

DUBLIN, Ireland, 23 December, 1957.
Excellency,
I have the honour to acknowledge receipt of your Note No. 321/61/9 dated 23 December, 1957 concerning the Agreement between the Governments of Ireland and Canada for Air Services between the two countries which was signed at Dublin on the 8th August, 1947, and to the exchange of Notes of the 9th July, 1951, modifying the Annex to the Agreement.
It is noted that the Government of Ireland has ceased, as from the 2nd May, 1957, to require aircraft flying over the territory of Ireland to land at Shannon Airport and the Government of Ireland proposes accordingly that Paragraph 3 of the Annex to the Agreement as modified should be deleted.
I have the honour to inform you the proposal that Paragraph 3 of the Annex to the Agreement be deleted is acceptable to my Government and that your Note dated 23 December 1957 and this reply will constitute confirmation of an agreed modification of the Annex, within the meaning of Article V of the Agreement.
