PROTOCOL BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF CANADA AND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE GERMAN DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC
The Government of Canada and the Government of the German Democratic Republic (hereinafter referred to as the Contracting Parties), desiring to facilitate and develop trade relations between their two countries on the basis of equality and mutual advantage, have agreed as follows:
ARTICLE I
The Trade Agreement between the Government of Canada and the Government of the German Democratic Republic, signed on September 9, 1983, is renewed for a period of three years, with effect from September 9, 1986. The Contracting Parties agree that commencing on September 9, 1989 the Trade Agreement will be automatically renewed for successive additional one year periods, subject to the right of either Contracting Party to terminate the Agreement on twelve month written notice to the other Contracting Party.
ARTICLE II
This Protocol shall enter into force on signature, with effect from September 9, 1986.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the undersigned, duly authorized thereto by their respective governments, have signed this Protocol.
DONE in duplicate at Berlin, this 18th day of December 1986, in the English, French and German languages, each version being equally authentic.
