in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, which read on the 30th June, 1961 and to our recent discussions regarding ending the validity
of the Trade Arrangement. It was agreed between us that the Trade Arrangement should be renewed with effect 30th June, 1961 for a
further period of two years, provided - that it will be open to either party to terminate the Arrangement by giving month's notice.

RENEWAL OF TRADE ARRANGEMENT EXCHANGE & OF LETTERS, Rome, 7 th JuLy 1964 Rome 7th July 1964 Dear Mr.
ORTONA, I have the honour to refer to the Trade Arrangement set out in letters exchanged between the Representatives of the Governments "India and Italy on the 6th October, 1959 which was later renewed extended upto 30th June, 1963. In accordance with Article 12 of
Trade Arrangement a Commission composed of the representatives ,the two Governments met recently in Rome for renewal of the Trade
Agreement, and agreed that the Trade Arrangement between India d Italy will be renewed with effect from 30th June, 1963 for a further
period of two years i.e. upto 30th June, 1965 and that thereafter it I continue to be valid for one year at a time, provided that
it may terminated by either party by giving one month's notice, to the other ore the expiration of the date of validity. They also
agreed to amend e other articles of the Trade, Arrangement of 1959. Accordingly, it was agreed that the following amendments shall made in the Trade Arrangement, 1959 : 1. The Schedules of commodities attached to the Trade Arrangement will be replaced by the revised Schedules appended hereto. The
revised Schedules will form an integral part of the Trade Arrangement. 2. Para 2 of Article 7 of the Trade Arrangement will be modified to read as follows "The practice of fishing and coastal trade as well as maritime activities which the Parties reserve to their nationals are to be
excluded from the present Agreement." 3. Articles 13 of the Trade Arrangement will be deleted. 4. Article 14 of the Trade Arrangement will be renumbered as Article 13 and will be amended to read as follows "(13) This Agreement shall come into effect immediately and shall remain valid upto 30th June 1965. It shall thereafter continue
to be valid for one year at a time, provided that it may be terminated by either party by giving one month's notice to the other
before the expiration of the date of validity". On behalf of the Government of India, I have the honour to convey our confirmation of the above decisions. I shall be grateful if
you will please confirm that the above sets out correctly the understanding reached between us. This letter and your reply thereto
will constitute an agreement between our two Governments which shall come into force on the date on which your reply is received.
