AND
The Government Of the GERMAN DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC,
HAVING regard to the mutual interest in the development of scientific and technical cooperation between their countries and aiming
at the strengthening of friendship between their countries and appreciating the good results of cooperation in the field of veterinary
services achieved so far; and in, pursuance of Articles II and IV of the Protocol on Scientific and Technical Cooperation between
the Government of the Republic of India and the Government of the German Democratic Republic, signed by the Government of the Republic
of India and the Government of the German Democratic Republic in New Delhi on February 2nd, 1971,
HAVE AGREED upon the following measures of cooperation in the fields of veterinary services including veterinary services, agricultural
cooperatives, animal husbandry and food industries :
Article I
For the advanced training of and the imparting of experience of Indian animal husbandry and veterinary staff, the Government of the
German Democratic Republic shall provide the Government of the Republic of India with a total of three scholarships per annum, each
of up to 3 months duration, in the fields of animal husbandry and, veterinary sciences including veterinary sciences, as follows
:
(1) Physiopathology of reproduction and artificial insemination of cattle
(2) Meat hygiene, inspection of meat combines and meat shops
(3) Poultry health
(4) Sheep health
(5) Pig health
(6) Dairy development
(7) Veterinary radiology
Article 11
For the advanced training of managerial and scientific staff of agricultural cooperatives and State Farms Corporation, the Government
of the German Democratic Republic shall provide the Government of the Republic of India with 10 scholarships per annum, each of upto
3 months duration, at the Technical School of Agriculture of Zschortau/Leipzig,
Article III
For the advanced training of managerial and scientific staff in the fields of animal husbandry and veterinary sciences, the Government
of the German Democratic Republic shall provide the Government of the Republic of India with 10 scholarships per annum, each of upto
3 months duration, at Zschortau/Leipzig.
Article IV
For the advanced training of and the imparting of experience to German Democratic Republic veterinary staff, the Government of the
Republic of India shall provide the Government of the German Democratic Republic with a total of 2 scholarships per annum, each of
up to 3 months duration, in the following fields :
(1) Cell culture, keeping and characterization of cell lines
(2) Typing of brucellae
(3) Production and use of lung worm vaccines
(4) Production and use of vaccines against African horse sickness
Article V
The advanced training of the staff listed in Articles I, II, III, and IV shall be in accordance with the Model Terms and Conditions
signed on behalf of the Government of the Republic of India and the Government of the German Democratic Republic on October 25th,
1971.
Article VI
The Government of the Republic of India and the Government of the German Democratic Republic agree upon the following systematic exchange
of information:
( 1) Monthly exchange of official reports regarding the epizootic situation.
(2) Exchange of technical periodicals in the fields of veterinary sciences, animal husbandry and agricultural cooperatives.
The Government of the German Democratic Republic shall send regularly to the Government of the Republic of India, the following technical
periodicals :
(a) Monatshefte Fur Veterinarmedizin’
(b) Cooperation
(c) Tierzucht
The Government of the Republic of India shall send regularly to the Government of the German Democratic Republic the following technical
periodicals :
(a) Indian Journal of Animal Sciences
(b) Indian Veterinary Journal
(c) Indian Journal of Animal Production
(3) Exchange of the most important legal regulations and dispositions in the field of veterinary services including veterinary sciences.
(4) Exchange of bacterium and virus strains as well as of antigens in case of necessity and subject to availability.
(5) The Government of the German Democratic Republic shall provide the Government of the Republic of India with information regarding
the production of baby food on fruit and vegetable basis.
(a) The Government of the German Democratic Republic shall deliver to the Government of the Republic of India a list of the assortments
produced in the German Democratic Republic including the composition of the individuals products.
(b) After studying the material the Government of the Republic of India may request the Government of the German Democratic Republic
for detailed information on individual products in which they are especially interested and may furnish to the German Democratic
Republic their views on further cooperation in this field.
Article VII
(1) Modifications and additions to this Supplementary Protocol shall be made in writing and shall require the approval of both the
Governments.
(2) This Supplementary Protocol shall come into force with effect from the date on which it is signed and shall be valid until December
3lst, 1975.
