(1) Whenever any person is convicted of any offence which involves a breach of the peace or of committing criminal intimidation by threatening injury to person or property, or of being a member of an un-lawful assembly, and the court before which such per-son is convicted is of opinion that it is proper to require such person to executed a bond for keeping the peace, such court may at the time of passing sentence on such person order him to execute a bond for a sum 'proportionate to his means, with or without sureties, for keeping the peace during such period not exceeding five years as it thinks fit to fix. |

(2) If the conviction is set aside on appeal or other-wise the bond so executed shall become void. |
