(1) Upon the notice of appeal being accepted by court, all further proceedings in such action shall be stayed and the said notice together with all the papers and proceedings in the case relevant to the judgment appealed against (including the notes of evidence taken by a Judge in terms of section 216) shall, as speedily as possible, be forwarded to the Supreme Court. |

(2) When an appeal against an acquittal is "lodged, the court may issue a warrant directing that the accused be arrested and brought before it and may commit him to prison pending the determination of the appeal or admit him to bail. |

(3) When an appeal against a conviction is lodged, the court may admit the appellant to bail pending the determination of his appeal. |
