2.
| (1) With effect from such date as the Minister may appoint by notification published in the Gazette (hereafter in this Act referred to as the " appointed date "), there shall be established a Board which shall be called the Anuradhapura Preservation Board. |

| (2) The Board shall, by the name assigned to it by subsection (1), be a body corporate and shall have perpetual succession and a common seal and may by its name sue and be sued. |
