Objects of the University

3. The objects of the University shall be

(i) the propagation of the Buddha Dharma;

(ii) the promotion of Pali studies in Sri Lanka and abroad ; and

(iii) the conduct of examinations for private students and students of affiliated colleges which have as their aims, one or more of the following:

	(a) the dissemination of Budhism and the fostering of Dharmmadutha activities in Sri Lanka and abroad;

	(b) the training of Bhikkhus in teaching Buddhism and Pali in Pirivenas, schools and similar institutions;

	(c) the provision of" necessary facilities for the maintenance and improvement of ethical conduct and mental discipline of Bhikkhus; and

	(d) any other matter connected with, or incidental to any of the matters aforesaid,
