Development Councils Act (No. 35 of 1980) - Sect 48

Appointment of District Secretary

48.
(1) The President shall, in consultation with the District Minister, and where he considers it necessary in consultation with the Chairman of the Council appoint in respect of each Development Council, a District Secretary who shall, subject to the direction of the Executive Committee, exercise supervision over all members of the district service appointed to his district.
(2) The District Secretary shall be the chief accounting officer of the Council.
