Interpretation
104. In this Act unless the context otherwise requires " approved symbol" means a symbol approved by the Commissioner under the Parliamentary Elections Act, No. 1 of 1981; "candidate" means a person who is nominated as a candidate at an election by a recognized political party or an independent group; " Commissioner" means the Commissioner of Elections appointed under Article 103 of the Constitution " Development Council" means a Development Council constituted under the Development Councils Act, No. 35 of 1980 ' District Secretary " means the District Secretary to an administrative under section 48 of the Development Councils Act, No 35 of 1980; election " means an election for the purpose of electing members to a Development Council ; member" means an elected member of a Development Council; " register of electors " means a register under the Registration of Electors Act, No. 44 of 1980 ; and " voter " means a person who, whether his name does or does not appear in a register of electors, applies to vote, or votes, at an election. |
