3. The general objects for which the Corporation is constituted are hereby declared to be"
| (a) to develop, foster and promote the sport of athletics throughout Sri Lanka and to co-operate with, and assist, athletes, officials and existing bodies in this effort ; |

| (b) to make an annual presentation of an award which shall be called the " Duncan White Award"' to an outstanding performer in such Olympic Sports as are determined by the Corporation ; |
|
| (c) to award from time to time athletic scholarships which shall be called the " Duncan White Scholarship " to any promising athlete or athletes based on superior achievement in such Olympic Sports as are determined by the Corporation and subject to the availability of funds, to consider granting additional scholarships as and when necessary ; and |
|
| (d) to assist in providing athletes with, up to date training facilities, equipment and coaching facilities in Sri Lanka and abroad. |
