(1) Where an authorized officer requires-
| | (a) any information regarding the employment of women, children or young persons by any class of employers, or | | |
| | (b) copies of the whole or any part of any registers or lists kept under this Act by any class of employers, | | |

(2) Every person who fails to comply with a notice published under subsection (1) of this section or who furnishes false information regarding such employment as is referred to in paragraph (a) of that subsection or a false copy of any such register or list as is referred to in paragraph (b) of that subsection shall be guilty of an offence and shall, on conviction after summary trial before a Magistrate, be liable to a fine not exceeding one thousand rupees or imprisonment of either description for a period not exceeding six months or both such fine and such imprisonment. |
