(1) Where any person in an affidavit tendered evidence in any proceeding by virtue of section 6, wistfully makes a statement which he knows: or believes to be false, or does not believe to be true, he shall be guilty of an offence under this Act and shall on conviction, after summary trial before a Magistrate be liable to imprisonment of either description for a term not exceeding ten years and to a fire. |

(2) Nothing in this section shall be read or construed as derogating from, or limiting the powers of any court to punish for contempt of itself or of any other court. |
