12. Section 21 of the principal enactment is hereby repealed and the following new section substituted therefor:

| | (1) Subject to the provisions of subsection (2), any person who takes, dismembers, removes, sells or purchases the carcase, or any part of the carcase, of any dead elephant which is the property of the Crown shall be guilty of an offence and shall on conviction be liable to a fine not exceeding two hundred rupees or to imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to one month or to both such fine and imprisonment. | | |
| | (2) Nothing in sub-section (1) shall apply to the carcase or any part of the carcase of any dead elephant which is the property of the Crown if such carcase or such part of the carcase has been disposed of by the Director under section 18, ". | | |
