Merchant Shipping Act (No. 52 of 1971) - Sect 137

Prohibition of the maintenance of a seamen's lodging house without a licence

137.
(1) No person shall maintain a seamen's lodging house, except under the authority of a licence issued in that behalf by the Director and in accordance with such terms and conditions as may be prescribed.
(2) Any person acting in contravention of subsection (1) shall be guilty of an offence and on conviction shall be liable to a fine not exceeding one thousand rupees.
