Power of receiver to suppress plunder and disorder by force

230.
(1) Whenever a Ceylon or foreign vessel is wrecked, stranded or in distress at any place on or near the coasts of Ceylon, or any tidal water within Ceylon waters, and any person plunders, creates disorder or obstructs the preservation of the vessel or of the shipwrecked persons or of the cargo or apparel of the vessel, a receiver of wrecks may cause such person to be apprehended.
(2) A receiver of wrecks may use force for the suppression of any plundering, disorder or obstruction referred to in sub-section (1), and may order any person to assist him in so using force.
(3) If any person loses his life, limb or sustains injury by reason of his resisting the receiver or any person acting under the orders of a receiver of wrecks in the execution of the duties entrusted to the receiver by this Part, neither the receiver nor the person acting under his orders shall be liable to any punishment or to pay any damages by reason of the person losing his life, limb or sustaining any injury.
