(1) Where under this Act or any other written law a ship is to be detained, a Shipping Officer shall, and where under this Act or any other written law a ship may be detained a Shipping Officer may, notify the proper officer of customs that such ship is liable to be detained. |

(2) Where a notification under sub-section (1) has been made to any officer of customs in respect of any ship, such officer shall refuse to clear that ship outward and to grant such ship a clearance under section 63 of the Customs Ordinance. |

(3) In this section " proper officer " has the meaning assigned thereto by the Customs Ordinance. |
