18.
| (1) Every holder of a stage carriage permit for a regular omnibus service or a regular hiring car service shall, until such permit ceases to be in force, provide the omnibus service or the hiring car service, as the case may be, which he is authorized by such permit to provide, as efficiently as he was able to do before the coming into force of this Act. |

| (2) Any person who contravenes the provisions of subsection (1) shall be guilty of an offence and shall, on conviction after summary trial before a Magistrate, be liable to imprisonment of either description for a period not exceeding one year or to a fine not exceeding one thousand rupees, or to both such imprisonment and fine. |
