5.
(1) Without prejudice to the generality of the powers conferred upon it by section 4, the Authority shall exercise, the following academic powers ;-
| | (a) to provide for professional development and research in teacher education ; | | |
| | (b) to recognise the examinations passed and the courses of studies pursued by, persons seeking admission to the teaching profession, having regard to the standard of such examinations and the content and duration of such courses of study : Provided however that the Minister may withdraw such recognition whenever he thinks it appropriate ; | | |
| | (c) to initiate, promote, conduct and co-ordinate research, surveys and investigations relating to the development of teacher education ; and | | |
| | (d) to make grants to any person, or a team of persons, or to any recognised institution or institutions, for a specific research project, study or survey, in the field of teacher education. | | |
