3. The general objects for which the Corporation is constituted are hereby declared to be"
| (a) to unite in one body all persons in Sri Lanka who are interested in providing hostel facilities for youth to help and encourage all people, in particular the young people, to acquire a knowledge, and under standing of the countryside, and to appreciate of the cultural values of towns and cities, both within and outside Sri Lanka; |

| (b) to represent the Interests of the members of the Corporation and other member associations of the International Youth Hostel Federation, wherever it is considered necessary; |
|
| (c) to afford Hostel facilities for youth by proving youth hostels, other accommodation and travel facilities; |
|
| (d) to organize, promote and encourage, competitions, contests, lectures, discussions, displays and demonstrations and to print and publish journals, magazines, handbooks, brochures and other literature,, relating to youth hostels ; |
|
| (e) to promote communal harmony, international friendship and understanding and to inculcate a sense of discipline and self-reliance amongst the members of the corporation ; |
|
| (f) to acquire or lease land and property, camping sites, buildings, boats, river and sea craft and other structures, in furtherance of the objects of the Corporation and to dispose of any such property, movable or immovable, by way of sale, gift or otherwise ; |
|
| (g) to encourage the formation of regional councils of the Corporation in furtherance of the objects of the Corporation ; and |
|
| (h) to do all such other acts and things as not inconsistent with this Act or any other written law as are conducive or incidental to, the attainment of the above objects or any one of them. |
