(1) The provisions of this Act shall be without prejudice to the operation of the Immigrants and Emigrants Act, and accordingly the fact that a person has applied for registration or is registered in the Register of Persons or is the holder of an identity card shall not, if that person has entered or is remaining in Ceylon in contravention of the provisions of the Immigrants and Emigrants Act, be deemed or construed to make lawful his entry or residence in Ceylon. |

(2) The provisions of this Act shall be without prejudice to the operation the Citizenship Act, the Indian and Pakistani Residents (Citizenship) Act or the Indo-Ceylon Agreement (Implementation) Act, No. 14 of 1967, and accordingly the fact that a person has applied for registration or is registered in the Register of Persons or is the holder of an identity card shall not in any manner be held to be proof that such person is or was entitled to citizenship of Ceylon under the provisions of any of the citizenship laws referred to in this sub-section. |
