(1) In any proceedings under this Act in respect of any article purporting to be a gem of any particular class or description, a document purporting to be a certificate issued under the hand of the Chairman of the Corporation, or any other member or officer of the Corporation authorized in that behalf by such Chairman, to the effect that such article is a gem of that class or description and that such proceedings are in respect of such article may be used as evidence in such proceedings, and shall be prima facie evidence of the facts stated therein until the contrary is proved. |

(2) A court may presume that the signature of the document referred to in sub-section (1) is genuine and that the person signing it held the office he professed to hold at the time of signing it, and accordingly such person need not be called as a witness to prove such document. |
