3. The general objects for which the Corporation is constituted are hereby declared to be-
(a) to ensure the maintenance of high standards of clinical practice of ophthalmology ; |

(b) to promote opthalmic education, training and research ; |
|
(c) to undertake and promote activites pertaining to the prevention of blindness and visual impairment in Sri Lanka ; |
|
(d) to promote co-operation, co-ordination and fellowship among those in disciplines associated with opthalmology ; |
|
(e) to introduce to Sri Lanka advanced methods of ophthalmologic treatment avilable internationally ; |
|
(f) to co-operate and collaborate with other ophthalmic colleges or organisations of international standing ; |
|
(g) to advise and assist the Government of Sri Lanka in preparing eye care programmes and formulating national plans for prevention of blindness and visual impairment ; |
|
(h) to print, publish, circulate journals, books or other publications as the Corporation may deem desirable for the promotion of the aforesaid objects ; |
|
(i) to provide or endow scholarships for the study of Opthalmology : and |
|
(j) to do all such other things as are incidential or conducive to the attainment of the above objects. |
