2. Section 3 of the Widowers and Orphans Pension Act, No. 24 of 1983, (hereinafter referred to as the" principal enactment ") is hereby amended by the repeal of sub section (6) of that section and the substitution therefor of the following subsection : -
| " (6) Every officer shall, within a period of one year from the date of coming into operation of this section, elect to be a contributor to the pension scheme. Where such officer has died prior to the coming into operation of this section or dies before the expiry of the period within which she could have elected to be a contributor, she shall, if she leaves a husband or child or a husband and child or a husband and children, be deemed to ha e elected to be a contributor to the pension scheme.". |
