3. The general objects for which the Corporation is constituted are hereby declared to be
| (a) to protect and foster the interests of Buddhism and to provide facilities for the teaching and propagation of Buddhism; |
|
| (b) to encourage the practice of, and observance of, the Buddha Dhamma ; |
|
| (c) to promote harmony and co-operation among Buddhists; |
|
| (d) to promote the moral., cultural, physical and social welfare of Buddhists ; |
|
| (e) to encourage the observance of Buddhist principles and to engage in activities for the advancement of the knowledge of the Dhamma ; |
|
| (f) to promote unity and co-operation among Buddhists, and to protect the rights and privileges of Buddhists ; |
|
| (g) to promote activities for the propagation of Buddhism, Buddhist culture and Buddhist civilization; |
|
| (h) to provide, establish, endow, maintain, control and manage, hospitals, clinics, diagnostic centers, and community halls, and to extend medical relief and aid, in any manner to the needy ; |
|
| (i) to train student and other persons, for a life of dedication and service to mankind, and, for the propagation of Buddhist culture ; |
|
| (j) to train students in Email industries and to help them financially or otherwise, to establish themselves as useful citizens; |
|
| (k) to construct, maintain and administer, orphanages, children's parks, cultural centers, schools and colleges; |
|
| (l) to give aid, by way of scholarships or awards, or aid in cash or kind, to monks, volunteers and other persons, engaged in the furtherance of the objects of the Corporation; |
|
| (m) to promote, arrange, organise and hold, exhibitions, lectures, seminars, symposia, workshops, classes, debates, conferences, tours, excursions or other activities, in furtherance of the objects of the Corporation; |
|
| (n) to provide and maintain libraries, to subscribe for and issue, books, journals, souvenirs and periodicals and to provide such other services as may be deemed desirable for attaining the objects of the Corporation; |
|
| (o) to institute and establish, scholarships, awards, grants and prices and to encourage, philosophical and cultural studies ; |
|
| (p) to co-operate and associate with, other associations, societies or organisations having objects similar to those of the Corporation ; |
|
| (q) to send delegates to conferences relating to Buddhism in Sri Lanka or abroad; |
|
| (r) Subject to the provisions of this Act, and any other written law, to do such other things as are or may be necessary, conducive or incidental, to the attainment of the objects of the Corporation. |
