An Act To Amend The Malta Standards Authority Act, Cap.419 (Bill No.11)

A Bill entitled

AN ACT to amend the Malta Standards Authority Act, Cap. 419.

BE IT ENACTED by the President, by and with the advice and consent of the House of Representatives, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1. (1) The short title of this Act is the Malta Standards Authority (Amendment) Act, 2008 and this Act shall be read and construed as one with the Malta Standards Authority Act, hereinafter referred to as “the principal Act”.

(2) This Act shall come into force on such date as the Minister responsible for the Malta Standards Authority may by notice in the Gazette appoint.

2. Sub-article (2) of article 3 of the principal Act shall be amended as follows:

(a) paragraphs (k) and (l) thereof shall be deleted and substituted by the following new paragraph (k):
“(k) two members appointed by the Chamber of
Commerce, Enterprise and Industry; and”; and
(b) paragraph (m) thereof shall be renumbered as (l).

Objects and Reasons

The object of this Bill is to amend the Malta Standards Authority Act, following the amendments to the Commercial Code in view of the amalgamation of organisations involved in the commercial and industrial sector.
