Education Act (Cap. 327) Bye-Laws Of 2005 In Terms Of The General Regulations For University Undergraduate Awards, 2004 For The Diploma In Baroque Architecture Under The Auspices Of The International Institute For Baroque Studies (L.N. 15 Of 2005 )

IN exercise of the powers conferred upon him by sections
30(5) and 31(6) of the Education Act (Cap. 327), the Chancellor of the University of Malta has promulgated the following bye-laws made by the Board of the International Institute for Baroque Studies in virtue of the powers conferred upon it by section 37 (1) of the said Act and which have been approved by the Senate of the University of Malta as required by section 37 (2) of the said Act:

1. (1) These bye-laws may be cited as the Bye-Laws of 2005 in terms of the General Regulations for University Undergraduate Awards, 2004 for the Diploma in Baroque Architecture under the auspices of the International Institute for Baroque Studies.
(2) In these bye-laws, unless the context otherwise requires -
“the Board” means the Board of the International Institute for Baroque
Studies;
“the Board of Studies” means the Board of Studies appointed for the
Course;
“the Course” means the course programme leading to the Diploma in
Baroque Architecture;
“the Diploma” means the Diploma in Baroque Architecture; and

“the Institute” means the International Institute for Baroque Studies.

2. These bye-laws shall be applicable for courses commencing in
October 2003 or later.

3. To be registered as regular students in the Course, applicants shall, apart from satisfying the general requirements for admission as specified in the Admission Regulations, be nominated by organisations that commission the Course for their employees after an agreement with the Board.

4. The Course shall extend over a period of one academic year of full- time study or its equivalent in part-time study.

5. (1) The Course shall consist of:
(a) taught study-units to which 38 credits shall be assigned;
(b) field experience study-units to which 12 credits shall be assigned; and
(c) a Long Essay/Project study-unit to which 10 credits shall be
assigned.
(2) The Board shall publish the programme of studies for the Course prior to its commencement, following approval of Senate.

6. (1) The overall evaluation of each student’s performance in the
Course for the purpose of the classification of the Diploma shall be based on

the results obtained in the study-units, field experience and in the Long Essay/Project, which shall be weighted according to the number of credits assigned to them.
(2) The names of students who qualify for the award of the Diploma shall be published in a list in alphabetical order classified as follows:
Pass with Distinction
Pass.
