EDUCATION ACT (CAP. 327)Bachelor of Accountancy (Honours) – B.Accty (Hons) Degree Course (Amendment) Regulations, 2007

In exercise of the powers conferred upon him by sections 74(5) and

75(6) of the Education Act (Cap. 327), the Chancellor of the University of Malta has promulgated the following regulations made by the Senate of the University of Malta by virtue of the powers conferred upon it by sections

75 and 79 of the said Act:

Citation

1. These regulations may be cited as the Bachelor of Accountancy (Honours)

– B.Accty (Hons) – Degree Course (Amendment) Regulations, 2007 and shall be read and construed as one with the Bachelor of Accountancy (Honours) – B.Accty (Hons) – Degree Course Regulations, 1998, published as Legal Notice 108 of 1998, hereinafter referred to as “the principal regulations”.

Applicability

2. These regulations shall be applicable to courses commencing in October

2007 or later.

Amendment of regulation 5 of the principal regulations

3. For regulation 5 of the principal regulations there shall be substituted the following:

“5. A candidate may be admitted to the Course if he: Either

(a) satisfies all the requirements leading to the degree of Bachelor of Commerce and has been placed in Category IIB or better, and has passed all the four synoptic study-units in Accountancy, at least two of which passed with a mark of

70% or more, and the other two passed with a mark of 55% or more,

Provided that a third synoptic study-unit passed with a mark of 70% or more, or one synoptic study-unit passed with 80% or more shall compensate for not more that one synoptic study-unit passed with a mark of between 45% and 54%;

(b) satisfies all the requirements leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science (Business and Computing) and has been placed in Category IIB or better, and has obtained a minimum of 70% in the synoptic study-units in the Business Studies area,

Provided that candidates accepted under this paragraph must pass the examinations of the four synoptic study-units in Accountancy of the Bachelor of Commerce course, at least two of which must be passed with a mark of 70% or more, and the other two passed with a mark of 55% or more (a third examination passed with a mark of 70% or more, or one examination passed with 80% or more shall compensate for not more that one examination passed with a mark of between 45% and 54%) prior to admission.”
