Education Act (Cap. 327) Bachelor Of Dental Surgery - B.Ch.D. - Degree Course (Amendment) Regulations, 2005 (L.N. 19 Of 2005 )

IN exercise of the powers conferred upon him by sections 30 (5) and 31 (6) of the Education Act (Cap. 327), the Chancellor of the University of Malta has promulgated the following regulations made by the Senate of the University of Malta by virtue of the powers conferred upon it by sections 31 and 35 of the said Act:

1. These regulations may be cited as the Bachelor of Dental Surgery

- B.Ch.D. - Degree Course (Amendment) Regulations, 2005 and shall be read and construed as one with the Bachelor of Dental Surgery - B.Ch.D. - Degree Course Regulations, 1998, published as Legal Notice 136 of 1998, hereinafter referred to as “the principal regulations”.

2. These regulations shall be applicable to courses starting in October

2000 or later.

3. In regulation 6 of the principal regulations there shall be added the following at the end of the list of subjects of the Fourth Year:

“Preventive and Community Dentistry (including Practice

Management)”

4. In regulation 6 of the principal regulations there shall be added the following at the end of the list of subjects of the Fifth Year:

5. At the end of sub-paragraph (c) of paragraph (1) of regulation 7 of the principal regulations there shall be added the following:

“Preventive and Community Dentistry”

6. In paragraph (1) of regulation 7 of the principal regulations there shall be added the following sub-paragraph (e) after sub-paragraph (d):

“(e) during the Fifth Year in: Ethics and Jurisprudence.”

7. For sub-paragraph (b) of paragraph (1) of regulation 8 of the principal regulations there shall be substituted the following:

“(b) Second B.Ch.D. Examination in:

Preventive and Community Dentistry (including Practice

Management)

Clinical Medical Sciences”

8. For paragraph (2) of regulation 9 of the principal regulations there shall be substituted the following:

“(2) The Second B.Ch.D. Examination shall be held as follows:

(a) in Clinical Medical Sciences in June at the end of the third year of the Course and the supplementary session in September; and

(b) in Preventive and Community Dentistry (including Practice

Management) in June at the end of the fourth year of the

Course and the supplementary session in September.”
