EDUCATION ACT (CAP. 327)Master of Arts in Islands and Small States Studies Degree Course(Amendment) Regulations, 2003

IN exercise of the powers conferred upon him by sections 30 (5) and 31 (6) of the Education Act (Cap. 327), the Chancellor of the University of Malta has promulgated the following regulations made by the Senate of the University of Malta by virtue of the powers conferred upon it by sections 31 and 35 of the said Act:

Citation

1. These regulations may be cited as Master of Arts in Islands and Small States Studies Degree Course (Amendment) Regulations, 2003 and shall be read and construed as one with the Master of Arts in Islands and Small States Studies Degree Course Regulations, 2000, published as Legal Notice 175 of 2000, hereinafter referred to as “the principal regulations”.

Applicability

2. These regulations shall be applicable to courses starting in
October 2002 or later.

Addition of regulation 4 to the principal regulations

3. The following regulation 4 shall be added after regulation 3 of the principal regulations:

“Preparatory Course

4. (1) Applicants who do not satisfy the requirements of paragraph (1) of regulation 3 but are in possession of a Bachelor’s degree with at least Category II of this University or an equivalent qualification from another university recognized by the Senate for the purpose may be admitted to the Course if they successfully complete a Preparatory Course.
(2) During the Preparatory Course, students shall be required to obtain not less than 20 credits for study-units at Honours level, as directed by the Board.”

Re-numbering of regulations

4. Regulations 4 to 19 of the principal regulations shall be re- numbered as regulations 5 to 20.
