EDUCATION ACT (CAP. 327)
Post-Secondary and Tertiary Students Maintenance Grants
(Amendments) Regulations, 2003
In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-article (3) of article 41 of the Education Act, the Minister of Education, in concurrence with the Minister of Finance, has made the following regulations>-
1. (1) The title of these regulations is Post-Secondary and Tertiary Students Maintenance Grants (Amendments) Regulations, 2003 and shall be read and construed as one with the Post-Secondary and Tertiary Students Maintenance Grants Regulations, 1999, hereinafter referred to as “the principal regulations”.
(2) The regulations shall come into force on the 1st
September, 2003.
2. The regulation 17 of the principal regulations paragraphs (f), (g) and (h) shall be renumbered as (g), (h) and (i) respectively, and immediately after paragraph (e) there shall be inserted the following new paragraph>-
“(f) a member nominated by the Principal of the Malta
College of Arts, Science , and Technology<”
3. In the Schedule, Part I> Post-Secondary Students -
(a) under the column “Post-Secondary Full-Time Courses”, the whole list of courses shall be deleted and substituted with the following new list of courses>-
“ - Certificate in Banking and Financial Services
- Certificate in Administrative and Secretarial Studies
- MCAST Certificate in Retailing
- Certificate in Insurance Studies
- Certificate in Marketing Studies
- MCAST#BTEC National Certificate in Business
- Accounting Technician Certificate
- Matriculation Certificate Course
- MCAST Intermediate Certificate in Business

(b) under the column “Student Maintenance Grant”, in paragraph 1 thereof, after the word “studies” insert the words, “except for courses offered by the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology”< and
(c) under the column “Student Maintenance Grant”, there shall be inserted the following new paragraph immediately after paragraph 1>-
“ 2. In the case of students attending courses at the Malta College College of Arts, Science and Technology, a fixed rate of Lm40 per month, payable to students between the 1st September and the 30th June, for the duration of their course of studies.”.
