EUROPEAN UNION ACT (CAP. 460)
Equal Treatment in Self-Employment and Occupation Order,
2007
IN exercise of the powers conferred by sub-article (2) of article 4 of the European Union Act, the Prime Minister has made the following Order>-
1. The title of this Order is the Equal Treatment in Self- Employment and Occupation Order, 2007.
2. In this Order, unless the context otherwise requires>
“the Directives” means Council Directive 2000#43#EC of 29
June 2000 implementing the principle of equal treatment between persons irrespective of racial or ethnic origin and Council Directive
2000#78#EC of 27 November 2000 establishing a general framework for equal treatment in employment and occupation<
“discriminatory treatment” shall have the same meaning assigned to it by sub-regulation (1) of regulation (2) of the relevant regulations<
“the relevant regulations” means the Equal Treatment in
Employment Regulations, 2004.
3. The object of this Order is to further implement the provisions of the Directives.
4. (1) Saving the provisions of sub-article (2) of this article, the provisions of the relevant regulations shall be applicable to all persons, also in relation to conditions for access to self-employment or to occupation, and the provisions of sub-regulations (3) and (4) of regulation 1 of the relevant regulations shall be understood and construed accordingly.

(2) Sub-regulation (1) of regulation 10 of the relevant regulations shall not apply to a person claiming to have been subjected to discriminatory treatment in relation to conditions for access to self- employment or to occupation.
