MOTOR VEHICLES INSURANCE (THIRD-PARTY RISKS) ORDINANCE (CAP. 104)
Designated State Regulations, 2004
IN exercise of the powers conferred by article 23 of the Motor Vehicles Insurance (Third-Party Risks) Ordinance, hereinafter referred
to as "the Ordinance", the Minister for Transport and Communications has made the following regulations>-
Title and commencement.
Scope of regulations.
Definition of
Designated State.
Cap. 460.
1. (1) The title of these regulations is the Designated State
Regulations, 2004.
(2) These regulations shall come into force on the 1st March, 2004 when these refer to a Member State of the European Union, and
on the 1st May, 2004 when these refer to a Member State of the European Economic Area.
2. The scope of these regulations is to list such States as are to be listed by regulations in terms of the definition “designated
State” in article 2 of the Ordinance.
3. For the purposes of these Regulations, a designated State shall mean
(a) a Member State of the European Union in terms of the European Union Act, 2003, and
(b) a Member State of the European Economic Area that is a contracting party to the Agreement signed at Oporto on the
2nd May, 1992 and the Protocol adjusting that agreement,
signed in Brussels on 17th March, 1993.
