The Trading Licences (Amendment) Act (Act No. Xiii Of 2011)

ACT No. XIII of 2011

AN ACT to amend the Trading Licences Act to extend the offences and penalties relative to retail outlets selling alcoholic beverages.

BE IT ENACTED by the President, by and with the advice and consent of the House of Representatives, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:-

1. (1) The short title of this Act is the Trading Licences (Amendment) Act, 2011, and this Act shall be read and construed as one with the Trading Licences Act, hereinafter referred to as "the principal Act".

(2) This Act shall come into force on such date as the Minister responsible for commerce may by notice in the Gazette appoint.

2. Article 18 of the principal Act shall be amended as follows:

(a) the present article shall be renumbered as sub-article
(1) thereof; and
(b) immediately after sub-article (1) thereof, as re- numbered, there shall be added the following new sub-article:

Short title and commencement.

"(2) The Minister may make regulations establishing offences and the relative punishments in relation to contraventions involving the sale of alcohol, which punishments shall not exceed a fine (multa) of twenty thousand euro (20,000) and, or, the revocation of the licence.".
