VETERINARY SERVICES ACT (CAP. 437)
Categories of Feed Materials which may be used for the Purposes of Labelling Compound Feedingstuffs for Pet Animals Rules,
2005
IN exercise of the powers conferred under the article3 of the Veterinary Services Act, the Minister for Rural Affairs and the Environment has made the following rules>–

Title, scope and applicability.

Categories listed in the Schedule which may be indicated on the packaging, container or label of compound feedingstuffs for pet animals.

1. (1) The title of these rules is the Categories of Feed Materials which may be used for the Purposes of Labeling Compound Feedingstuffs for Pet Animals Rules, 2005.
(2) The scope of these rules is to implement the rules found under European Union Commission Directive 82#475#EEC laying down the categories of ingredients which may be used for the purposes of labelling compound feedingstuffs for pet animals.
2. Where, pursuant to Article 5c (3) of European Union Council Directive 79#373#EEC, the indication of the specific name of the feed material can be replaced by the name of the category to which the feed material belongs, only the categories listed in the Schedule hereto may be indicated on the packaging, container or label of compound feedingstuffs for pet animals.

1. Meat and animal derivatives

2. Milk and milk derivatives

3. Eggs and egg derivatives

4. Oils and fats

5. Yeasts

6. Fish and fish derivatives

7. Cereals

8. Vegetables

9. Derivatives of vegetable origin

10. Vegetable protein extracts

11. Minerals

12. Various sugars

13. Fruit

All the fleshy parts of slaughtered warm- blooded land animals, fresh or preserved by appropriate treatment, and

all products and derivatives of the processing of the carcase or parts of the carcase of

warm-blooded land animals

All milk products, fresh or preserved by appropriate treatment, and derivatives from the processing thereof

All egg products fresh or preserved by appropriate treatment and derivatives from the

processing thereof

All animal and vegetable oils and fats

All yeasts, the cells of which have been killed and dried

Fish or parts of fish, fresh or preserved by appropriate treatment, and derivatives from the processing thereof

All types of cereal, regardless of their presentation, or products made from the starchy

endosperm

All types of vegetables and legumes, fresh or preserved by appropriate treatment

Derivatives resulting from the treatment of

vegetable products ,in particular cereals, vegetables, legumes and oil seeds

All products of vegetable origin in which the proteins have been concentrated by an adequate process to contain at least 50% crude protein, as related to the dry matter, and

which may be restructured (textured)

All inorganic substances suitable for animal feed

All types of sugar

All types of fruit, fresh or preserved by appropriate treatment
