38. The following new sections are hereby inserted immediately after section 83, and shall have effect of sections 83A and 83B of the principal enactment:-
| 83A. The provisions of the Pawn Brokers Ordinance (Chapter 99) shall not apply to a licensed commercial bank, and such bank may carry on the business of pawn broker subject to such conditions as may be determined by the Monetary Board. |

| 83B. A company incorporated outside Sri Lanka which has been issued a licence under section 5 of this Act as a licensed commercial bank, shall with, effect from the date of issue of such licence, be deemed to be an exempted company for the purposes of the Companies (Special Provisions) Law, No. 19 of 1974.". |
