9. Section 17c of the principal enactment is hereby of amended as follows :-
| (1) in subsection (1) of that section by the substitution for the words " five years from the commencement of the year of assessment in which such company commenced to carry on business.", of the words " five years reckoned from the year of assessment in which such company commenced to make profits in respect of its transactions in that year."; |

| (2) in paragraph (c) of subsection (2) of that section"
| | (a) by the substitution, in sub-paragraph (ii) of that paragraph, for the words "industrial design; or", of the words " industrial | | |
| | (b) by the substitution, in sub-paragraph (iii) of that paragraph, for the words '"' telecommunication services in Sri Lanka :", of the words " telecommunication services in Sri Lanka or ; and | | |
| | (c) by the insertion immediately after sub-paragraph (iii), of that paragraph of the following sub-paragraph : "
| | | " (iv) an undertaking of a pioneering nature for. the provision of offshore marine services including salvage and towage, search and rescue operations at sea:". |
