2. Section 6 of the National Science Council of Sri Lanka Law, No. 36 of 1975, (hereinafter referred to as the " principal enactment) Is hereby amended by the repeal of subsection (1) of that section and the substitution therefore of the following new subsection : -
| (1) The Council shall consist of the following members:-
| | (a) eight members (hereinafter referred to as " appointed members) appointed by the Minister from among persons who have distinguished themselves in science and technology in any of the following fields: | | |
| | (b)three ex officio members, namely-
| | | (i) the Secretary-General of the Council; |
| (ii) the Secretary to the Ministry in charge of the Minister to whom the subject of Scientific Affairs has been assigned or a representative of the Ministry nominated by the Secretary; and |
| (iii)the Secretary to the Ministry in charge of 'the Minister to whom the subject of Finance has been assigned or a representative of the Ministry nominated by the Secretary. |
