(1) The amendment made to the principal enactment section 2 of this Act shall be deemed, for all purposes, to have come into force on August 1. 1989. |

(2) The appointment of any person to the office of Ombudsman or the continuation of any person in such office during the period commencing on August 1, 1989 and ending on the date of commencement of this Act, shall be deemed, not to have been, or to be, invalid by reason only of the fact that the person so appointed or continuing in office as the case may be, was, at any time during the aforesaid period, over the age of sixty eight years. |

(3) The exercise, performance and discharge, by the person holding the office of Ombudsman, during the period commencing on August 1, 1989 and ending on the date of commencement of this Act, of any power, duty or function, conferred or imposed on, or assigned to, the Ombudsman by the principal enactment shall be deemed not to have been, or to be. Invalid by reason, only of the fact that such holder was, at the time of such exercise, performance or discharge, as the case may be, over the age of sixty eight years. |
