Power to nominate Chairman or Vice-Chairman when not elected by Village Council. [ 4, 31 of 1940.]
21. Where for any reason the members of a Village Council fail to elect a Chairman in accordance with the provisions of section 17 or a Vice-Chairman in accordance with the provisions of section 20, it shall be lawful for the Minister1 to nominate one of the members of that Village Council to be the Chairman or the Vice-Chairman, as the case may be, and the member so nominated shall be entitled to exercise the like powers, shall perform the like duties, and shall hold office for the like term, as a Chairman or a Vice-Chairman duly elected by that Village Council. |
