4. Section 7 of the principal enactment is hereby amended as follows :-
| (a) by the renumbering of that section as subsection (1) of section 7 ; |
|
| (b) in renumbered subsection (1) of that section, by the substitution, for paragraph (b) of that subsection, of the following new paragraph :-
| | " (b) who was, on the first day of June in the year of the commencement of the preparation or revision of that parliamentary register, ordinarily resident in any ward which is situated wholly or partly within the electoral district, " ; and | | |

| (c) by the insertion, immediately after renumbered subsection (1) of that section, of the following new subsections :-
| | (2) In the determination of any question as to a person's residence on the first day of June in any year, particular regard shall be had to the purpose and other circumstances, as well as to the fact, of his presence at, or absence from, the address in question, and in particular his absence from such address in the performance of any duty accruing from, or incidental to, any office, service or employment, held or undertaken by him. | | |
| | (3) The address at which a person was ordinarily resident in any ward on the first day of June in any year is hereafter in this Act referred to as his " qualifying address ". | | |
